Reply on issues related to the implementation of pollutant emission standards for Coking Chemical Industry

We have received your request for instructions on issues related to the implementation of pollutant emission standards for Coking Chemical Industry (Su Huan ban [2016] No. 39). After study, we hereby reply as follows:
The pollutants produced by coking enterprises have complex components and high toxicity. The main purpose of article 4.1.5 of the emission standard of pollutants for Coking Chemical Industry (GB 16171-2012) is to prevent the transfer and diffusion of water pollutants into the atmosphere during coal washing, coke quenching and blast furnace slag flushing, resulting in air pollution. The quality of wastewater used in coal washing, coke quenching and blast furnace slag flushing shall comply with the provisions of 4.1.5 of the emission standard of pollutants for Coking Chemical Industry (GB 16171-2012), including coke quenching circulating water.
